Volunteer Passport: Communications Skills

Event Details

The Volunteer Passport Scheme initiative, offers a series of 4 short training modules exploring the key areas all volunteers need to successfully volunteer with clients. These modules will give participants the basic skills, awareness, confidence and knowledge required to volunteer.

Once you have completed all four training modules you will receive a volunteer passport, which gives you access to our volunteering newsletter crammed full of exciting features and exclusive volunteering events and the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of Charities and voluntary organisations in Slough.

You can really make a difference!

Communication Skills:

The ability to communicate effectively is essential, no matter where you volunteer, it sounds like it should be instinctive but often when we say one thing it can be misinterpreted leading to misunderstandings and frustration.

This module covers the following:

  • Engaged listening
  • Nonverbal communication
  • Making every contact count
  • Asserting yourself in a respectful way

This training is free to join but there is a cost to us to deliver it, so please if you sign up and can’t make it please let us know so we can offer your place to someone who can attend. For all of our training we need a minimum of 10 participants and may need to cancel if we have insufficient interest. The training is participatory so please only attend if you are able to join in as we learn best from each other.
